1965 Pontiac GTO
TRIPOWER, 4 SPEED, PHS DOCUMENTED!
This is one good looking GTO in its factory color Montero Red, code R. It appears to have all the original sheet metal. It is straight down both sides, all the panels fit square and flush. The doors open and shut like new. The clear coat finish is smooth and glossy. The door jambs are just as glossy as the exterior. Up front; the bumper, headlight bezels and around the grills are in nice shape. The rear bumper has been rechromed. The tail panel and tail light bezels and lenses are in good shape. All the weather stripping has been replaced. The door handles and all the emblems are nice. It sits on a set of Rally 1 wheels with a set of newer Blackwall radial tires.
The interior looks good. The seat upholstery looks excellent. The door panels, carpet, headliner, armrest bases and pads have all been replaced. The rear seat is very nice. It sports an aftermarket three spoke wood steering wheel. In between the bucket seats there is a Hurst 4-speed shifter with white shift knob sticking out of the factory console. Looking at the dash it is in good shape and the lenses are clear. The heater controls slide with ease. It also features front and rear seat belts.
The engine compartment is nicely detailed with a date coded 1965 389 ci motor, casting number 9778789 that features a tri-power setup on it! The carbs have been completely restored and dialed in. It sports factory chrome valve covers. The brake booster and master cylinder have been replaced. The engine bay, core support and firewall are painted and have a nice satin black finish.
The undercarriage is as clean as the top side. All the steering and suspension components look good. The floors are all clean original metal, no signs of any patches. There is a dual exhaust system that runs all the way out the rear with correct factory splitters. It has a newer gas tank, sending unit and straps. The E-brake system is all complete and working.
The trunk is solid and nicely detailed with factory spatter paint. It has a spare tire, jack assembly, lug wrench, trunk mat and newer weather stripping.
What an amazing GTO! This is truly a beauty! Tri-power, 4-speed! What more could you ask for?
